The Story of the Dixie Red Storm Logo

It was a dark and stormy night, lightning flashed once, twice, and then a bone rattling boom shook the car, well not our car, our car was in utah, the storm, obviously was somewhere else.  anyway, as the reverberations ceased a giant yellow eye was to be seen amidst the swirling inky black storm clouds.  It appeared to be searching, and then as it gazed upon the car, (again, this is not our car) it stopped, widened, then closed.  As the people inside uttered a sigh or relief over the disappearance of the eye, a funnel reached down from the mass of clouds and struck the earth with a shattering explosion, and to the cute little family in the car's horror, the massive eye had returned, but this time, it wasn't alone.  this time it had brought it's twin brother, and some friends.  The people were silent, for jutting out of the fierce black winds, was a massive snout, framed with the points of horns that were of biblical proportions, not to mention those huge staring yellow eyes.  And then the eerie silence was broken, as the giant black bull, opened its mouth, and the same bone shattering roar as before issued forth to the horror of the family.  Unfortunately for them, the epic cow was the last thing they saw, as a giant hoof came down and squashed the car, however, the littlest boy escaped, little timbo that was, and survived.  he then made an epic journey to southern utah, from his current location in spain.  14 years, and many bovine infested nightmares later, he enrolled himself at dixie art school, determined to study art under the tutelage of the man know as the Del Parson.  in his junior year at the not so ancient nor prestigious college, there was a competition to find a new symbol for the school, something fearsome, something to be respected, and to instill awe.  Little Timbo, now Timbo the man, knew there was only one thing that fit the bill, and so he worked day and night, for 7 months, to capture the essence of the mighty beast that destroyed his family and shattered his life all those years ago.  he did so well, that the judges were in awe of his skill.  they could almost hear the destructive roar of the beast, and its yellow eyes drove fear into their hearts, they knew that this had to be their new image. and thus The Dixie Red Storm had it's new symbol, one to be feared and loved across the land.  Red, the Black Storm Bull

Still bitter over the change. No offense Timbo. By the way, are you related to Ricky Ticky?

OK, I met that poor girl who actually designed the new Red Storm. I was in the computer lab and someone asked her about the new mascot, she was trying to explain the rules of the competition (couldn't look angry or even like a bull.) Everyone(except me--I was off in a corner) really got involved in the whole discussion. One of the football players there said he would NEVER wear the red storm on his helmet and the conversation when down from there. So sad for the designer.(Luckily she graduated this semester)
